Legal Status of London Higher
From April 2009 London Higher became a company limited by guarantee with charitable status bringing us into line with similar membership associations. However, our mission to promote and act as an advocate for London's higher education sector remains unchanged.
We have a new logo signifying our role in connecting London's higher education institutions, higher education stakeholders and regional bodies.
We will also be making changes to our website over the coming months.
Olympic Park Legacy
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is holding a consultation on a proposal to build a specialist centre for research and learning, as part of the Olympic Park legacy after the 2012 Games.
London Higher will be submitting a response by the deadline on 31 May 2009. We should very much like to hear views from HEIs and/or individuals on the consultation document, and in particular the 'key issues for discussion' in section 7 of the document.
Contact Paresh Shah to submit your views or for more information.

International Student Reception

On 19 March, the Mayor's Office and Study London hosted an international student reception to celebrate the contribution made by international students to London’s diversity and vibrancy.
More than 4,000 students from over 140 nations applied to meet the Mayor, who visibly enjoyed the attention of students gathered from 30 of London’s universities.
In addition to getting a much sought after photo with Boris Johnson, students networked, made new friends and enjoyed the spectacular panoramic views of London's skyline from London’s Living Room at City Hall.

New PODIUM website
The new Podium website offers universities the opportunity to engage regionally through maps and links, and to demonstrate the inspiring 2012 Games related work already underway via the showcase pages. Sector-specific information is available in the form of news stories, event listings and opportunity postings.
The London region section has a map showing where colleges and universities are already involved with the 2012 Games through pre-games training camp venues and events. This page also links through to key sectoral contacts and the local London 2012 creative programmer. On this, and other pages, you can keep up-to-date with local events and projects.
Resources are now sorted into comprehensive sections to help browsing, along with a new search facility. If you want to share your inspirational stories, activities or want to publicise your events, then simply and quickly upload your content for others to access from the Podium website.
