Highly Skilled London

Mapping employer engagement

The HEFCE-funded Employer Engagement project, in partnership with London First and the Learning and Skills Network, was undertaken by consultants Grant Thornton.

The project explored the demand for Higher Level Skills (HLS) in London by employers, the supply of HLS provision by HEIs and strategic solutions to overcoming issues and barriers identified.

Highly Skilled London sets out a comprehensive employer engagement strategy and calls for a Business Development Unit to be established. The next step for the project partners is to seek funding in setting up the Unit.

The last couple of years have seen a large growth in the number of organisations looking to develop purpose built student accommodation in London.

This conference will look at some of the reasons why student housing has become such a popular investment and why London is such an attractive option.

Although the event is aimed at developers, organisers will also be inviting University Business Officers, Accommodation Officers, NUS and other Student Union representatives.

A range of seminars will cover subjects from accreditation through to "studentification". The aim is to encourage dialogue, networking and partnership between all the relevant parties.
