EcoCampus

EcoCampus is a national Environmental Management System (EMS) and award scheme for the higher education sector.
The EcoCampus scheme is recognised by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) as a way of helping higher education institutions (HEIs) implement an effective EMS by providing the necessary skills and tools.
Approximately 30% of UK HEIs are enrolled on the scheme, with institutions gaining recognition for improved environmental performance through a series of awards: bronze, silver, gold or platinum (equivalent to the international standard ISO 14001).
London Higher members enrolled on the scheme include The Institute of Cancer Research; Kings College London; Queen Mary, University of London; Roehampton University; St George’s, University of London; University College London; and the University of Greenwich.
For further information about the EcoCampus Scheme and to register interest in joining the 2010 cohort, please phone 01158 483019 or email harry.fraser@ntu.ac.uk.
London Medicine

Evening Meeting
London Medicine held a meeting on 3 June 2010 which was well attended and included Sir Alan Langlands, Chief Executive, HEFCE, and Mark Walport, Director, Wellcome Trust, who provided an opportunity for an evening of interesting discussion.
Survey findings
There was a 91% response rate to the recent online survey of members which provided useful information on prioritising initiatives and messages to promote London Medicine. The results were presented at the meeting held on 3 June.
Actions from the survey include developing an evidence-based website to promote the concentration of healthcare education and research excellence in London. The website will also provide resources to demonstrate added value to healthcare using data and information from the website.
A Joint Action Group (JAG), with members from London Medicine and the Healthcare Education Group, will be formed to provide the necessary advice and guidance during development of the website. The JAG will also coordinate any future projects that will be jointly carried out by the two groups.
If you would like to know more about London Medicine then please email Chris Gulik or phone 020 7664 4846.
