London Higher's Business Strategy for 2011-2014 defines how we would like London's higher education (HE) landscape to look by 2014. Our corporate statements have been changed to reflect the new strategy and are as follows:

  • Vision: Higher Education working together for excellence and efficiency;
  • Mission: To extend the reach, influence and capacity of members and partners by supporting HE institutions to work together;
  • Values: Competition is a given, collaboration adds value.

Investors in People award

Investors in People is the UK's leading business improvement standard. Following an audit in earlier this year, we are delighted that London Higher was awarded the Investors in People mark in July 2011.

Key Facts: Destinations of Leavers

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) annually collects employment and study data from graduates six months after they have completed their studies.

The latest figures for graduates from publicly-funded higher education institutions in London show that:

  • 64% were working while 22% were carrying out further studies or combining work and further study, and 7% were assumed to be unemployed.
  • 71% of working graduates were employed in the capital and 19% were employed in the East of England or the South East;

Green ICT dissemination and publicity

Recent publicity for the Green ICT project funded by JISC includes:

(1) part of a special feature in Times Higher Education on 12 May 2011 under Green goals;

(2) SusteIT newlsetter for August 2011 under ICT energy use in London HEIs;

(3) online on 17 August 2011 at Greenbiz.com under Lessons in Green IT from London Schools;

(4) a quote in the SusteIT briefing paper for September 2011 on powering down personal computers, and

(5) a presentation during the evening discussion on Sustainable ICT - A Bird's Eye View on September 14 organised by Net Impact London Professional.

AccessHE – social mobility through HE in London

London Higher’s new Division AccessHE, headed by Dr Graeme Atherton, aims to build on the best practices of both Aimhigher and London Higher’s School-HE Links in London (SHELL) project by supporting access to HE for learners in London from disadvantaged backgrounds.

AccessHE is working with over 25 higher education institutions inside and outside of London, and has been identified by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA) as an exemplar of best practice. Find out more at www.AccessHE.ac.uk.
