The School of Pharmacy, University of London

The School of Pharmacy was founded in 1842 by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and still the only independent and specialist institution in the UK providing degrees in pharmacy and related subjects. The School is the highest-rated research institution in its field in the UK and offers one of the largest MPharm programmes (the only qualifying route to becoming a pharmacist). It is located in Bloomsbury close to many of the other schools of the University of London so students enjoy the facilities, and academic and social benefits of membership of one of the largest and most prestigious universities in the world, while belonging to a specialist institution where people actually know their name!
It is a small institution with around 1200 students – about 800 undergraduates all studying for the MPharm degree, and the rest following one of the four specialist masters degrees or research programmes. About 25% of the students are from countries outside Europe.
Our current relationships with London schools
We have a dominantly London-based undergraduate cohort with well-established links within central London schools especially. We value and continue to develop those links but in addition, to support our diversity agenda we are actively seeking to build relationships with schools across greater London and the wider M25-plus region.

Contacting our academic departments
While postgraduate work is structured across four specialist academic departments, the MPharm degree runs across all of them, creating a uniquely rich and expert resource for students.
