Our current relationships with London schools
The Education Liaison and Development (ELD) team helps schools and colleges to forge links with the University. This comprises of student recruitment and outreach work as well as Widening Participation.
Recruitment and outreach work / schools and colleges liaison
We work with years 9-13 and undertake a wide range of activities to help students progressing into higher education from the application stage through to enrolment. For example we offer a programme of talks, assistance with UCAS applications, personal statements, subject workshops, taster days, study skills and university visits. These programmes can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. In addition to this the team attends extensive recruitment events, delivers information sessions for staff in IAG roles whilst offering a year 11 summer school and masterclasses for years 12-13.
Widening Participation
The University takes a leading role with our Aimhigher Partnerships (WECAN/LETG) to ensure successful progression to higher education for all learners. We offer activities that are principally about raising aspirations, awareness and attainment throughout the partnership. These include support for student progression through mentoring programmes, transition to higher education courses, skills for HE and our AchieveAbility Network for students with specific learning differences as well as introducing primary schools to HE. In addition to this we work on cross university initiatives such as the Student Associate Scheme funded by the TDA. The work is supported by a strong network of student ambassadors from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. The ELD team offers an extensive Menu of Activities for schools to participate in. All activities are flexible and can be customised to fit the needs of the schools, subject area or curriculum with very specific learning outcomes.
