The London Higher 2019 Plenary Discussion will take place on Thursday 20 June 2019.
This year’s London Higher Plenary discussion will be a highlight of our inaugural London HE Week, taking place across the capital from 17-21 June 2019.
The theme of this year’s lively plenary discussion will be Student Mental Health and Wellbeing in London. An engaging panel discussion including colleagues from the regulatory, charity, health and research sectors will address this important and timely theme. Facilitated by Dr Peter Bonfield, Chair of London Higher’s London Health and Wellbeing Network and Vice-Chancellor, University of Westminster.
- Yvonne Hawkins, Director of Teaching Excellence and Student Experience, Office for Students.
- Professor Sir Simon Wessely, Regius Professor of Psychiatry at King’s College London and member of the core management team for SMaRteN (Student Mental Health Research Network). In addition to his role at King’s and SMaRteN Simon recently Chaired an Independent Review of the Mental Health Act and is the current president of the Royal Society of Medicine.
- Rachel Piper, Policy Manager, Student Minds. Rachel focuses on tackling inequalities in student mental health, through research, policy and Student Minds partnerships with other organisations.
- Professor Oliver Shanley OBE, Regional Chief Nurse for London, NHS England and NHS Improvement. Oliver has worked in Mental Health Services since 1987, qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse in 1990. Open to all.
