Networks

WHAT WE DO

The group aims to make the case for additional funding to ensure that London HEIs are able to compete with other regional providers on a level economic playing field. The value of this funding is over £60 million per annum. Areas of work include:

a) Monitoring policy in regard to location premia (costs associated with a geographical area)

b) Working with economists to estimate the additional costs of providing HE in London

c) Evaluating alternative models of location premia (e.g. those applied in the local government, FE or the health sectors)

d) Maintaining communication with HEFCE and its successor the OfS to ensure that location premia are not overlooked

CURRENT INITIATIVES

Letter to HEFCE

In December 2016 we wrote to the CEO of HEFCE to urge that the upcoming review of special funding was informed by the most recent evidence of additional costs in London. We have since meet several times with HEFCE to discuss the special funding, most recently in March 2017.
