CURRENT INITIATIVES

Since the vote on the EU Referendum in June 2016, specific guidance and updates have been provided on residency requirements for EU students and staff.

A workshop on Tier 4 compliance was held in January 2018 with the theme of ‘The student journey: from right to study to right to work’. This covered risk management processes for study visas and work conditions, with speakers from Anglia Ruskin University, University of Greenwich, Goldsmiths, University of London, and Carter Thomas Solicitors.

A second workshop was held in April 2018 on ‘Immigration: how to be a compliant sponsor under Tiers 2 and 5 and other work related routes’.  This event was aimed at HR and immigration compliance staff who ensure their institutions are compliant with the rules for sponsors under Tiers 2 and 5 of the Points Based System.  The workshop was led by speakers from Goldsmiths, University of London, and Carter Thomas Solicitors and was attended by representatives from nearly 20 HEIs and organisations including some from outside of London.

Further workshops are scheduled for January 2019 on Tier 5 visas and March 2019 on post-study work routes.
