UniVenture 2019 took place on the 19th June as part of London HE Week and showcased the range of entrepreneurial talent being supported by London’s Universities. Eight institutions took part and eight fantastic teams presented their business ideas to an audience hand-picked from London’s innovation ecosystem. In attendance were accelerators, charities, mentors, investors and many others with an interest in hearing about the next generation of university students with innovative business ideas.
The event was supported by HSBC, who kindly provided us with a fantastic venue in their Canary Wharf HQ.
Members of the London Economic Partnership, the Mayor’s agency responsible for funding growing businesses in London addressed the guests present for the exhibition, as did Dr Celia Caulcott, Vice Provost for Enterprise at University College London, who noted: “Only by being connected to the cities in which they are based can universities succeed in providing students with the skills, confidence and contacts they need to succeed in their business ventures.”
The group responsible for coordinating the event, the London Student Enterprise Network (a network of London Higher), now looks to the next academic year and will meet soon to plan future activities and collaborations.
